Do Not Miss Your Appeal Deadline


It is that time of the year again when you should be thinking about your 2016 property taxes payable in 2017. Why? Because 2016 assessment are being determined now and you only have 30 days to appeal from your assessment notice date. Miss the deadline and it is wait until next year. The fact is the property tax code was written to benefit tax districts and not property owners and allowing such a short opportunity to appeal is part of the plan. Only about 20% or property owners in any given year appeal when in reality about 65% of properties are over assessed.
